Looking for the perfect flowers for your wedding? Got a fave like peonies or dahlias that you love for home decor? (I totally love both!) Or maybe you need fresh herbs for a little farm to fork culinary adventure? If so, you’re in the right place!

This page highlights what Graystem Farm has to offer each season from Spring to Autumn, here in Powhatan County, Virginia.

Graystem Farm begins our flower season in MARCH with our earliest blooms – hellebores. These shade-loving cuties, also called Lenten Roses, are quickly joined by narcissi, anemones, sweet peas, and one of my favorites, ranunculus. Our flower field pops with yellow and white from a few thousand daffodils, and we add more every year. Don’t miss our Daffodil Days open farm day – it’s the perfect time for some Easter pics. Plus, this month we host seed starting workshops!

As March sweeps into APRIL, the romance of spring is reflected in the flowers – luxe ranunculus are joined by lacey orlaya, frothy Lady’s Mantle, calendula, Sweet William, ruffled double snapdragons, alliums, bupleurum, larkspur and the classic florist’s iris.

MAY, is peony season! We’ve got these English garden favorites in fragrant white, soft pink, and deep ruby. Our gorgeous bearded irises, climbing roses, English lavender, and early clematis start popping toward the end of the month. Celebrate the Moms in your life with gorgeous arrangements! If you prefer a DIY floral tribute for Mom, we’ve got you covered with flower arranging workshops and a bouquet bar.

JUNE is a riot of summer color and filled with the hum of bees and butterflies. We’ve got roses, French lavender, lilies, Queen Anne’s lace, cosmos, echinacea, rudbeckia, feverfew, sunflowers, gladiolus, sedum, zinnias, and so many other blooms just flaunting their stuff. Edible flowers and herbs are at their peak.

Summer cranks up the heat in JULY! The flowers are sweating it out, just like us. Graystem Farm takes a break this month to focus on harvesting and processing lavender.

But wait, it’s not over yet! AUGUST heralds the start of dahlia season! And even though we’re craving some cool autumn vibes about now, heat lovers like celosia, zinnias, and sunflowers – in fall shades of orange, gold and russet – are still pumping out the blooms.

SEPTMBER is finally fall, y’all! The kids have returned to school, but here on the farm those heat loving flowers are still going strong. Show your kids’ teachers a little love with a mixed bouquet! Don’t forget a little adult education of your own. We have a few crafty floral workshops on the calendar. Our floral design services are wrapping up 2026 bookings this month as well.

We’ve finally arrived at cooler weather with first frosts in OCTOBER. This is when the farm begins to wind down for a winter sleep. I’m so ready for sweater weather…AND spooky season! In 2026, we’re planning a small pumpkin patch and additional seasonal floral craft workshops during the month of October.

Flower Subscriptions for 2026 go on sale in NOVEMBER. These are a great holiday gift ideas for the flower lovers in your life!
